How to style a silver ring

A ring is the smallest change you can make to how you look, and one of the most noticed. Hands are always in view: holding a phone, a cup of cha, a steering wheel.

Start with one

If you have never worn a ring, start with a plain band on the ring finger or index finger of the hand you write with less. It will feel strange for two days and then you will stop noticing it. That is the point at which other people start to.

Which finger

• Index finger: the most visible. Good for a signet or a wide band.
• Middle finger: balanced and neutral. A plain band works best.
• Ring finger: read as a commitment on the left hand in most of Bangladesh, so choose the right hand if that is not what you mean.
• Little finger: the traditional place for a signet.

How many

One ring is a detail. Two rings on different hands is a style. Three or more should differ in width, so they read as a set you chose and not a display.
