Behind the collection: New Form
Why KONA starts every design from a circle, and what changed in the pieces released this season.

Every KONA piece starts as the same drawing: a circle. A ring is a circle. A hoop is a circle. A chain is a hundred small ones. The work is in deciding what to do to it.
Three changes
For New Form we changed one thing in each piece. The Chaya signet flattens one side of the circle into an oval face. The Dheu ring lets the circle rise and fall four times. The Britto band stays exactly as it was and changes colour, to onyx.
Why names in Bangla
Britto means circle. Rekha means line. Bindu is a dot, Dheu a wave, Chaya a shadow. Kona, the name of the brand, is a speck: the smallest amount of something. The names say what the pieces are, in the language they were designed in.
What comes next
Anklets, and a wider cuff. Both are being worn and tested now.
